These criteria shall apply to secondary batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes for portable use by categorizing secondary batteries into two systems: 1. Nickel systems (covers only nickel-cadmium batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries), and 2. Lithium systems.
