Applicable product categories are defined in IEC 62552:2020 and include residential minibars, fridges, frost-free combination refrigerators, side-by-side refrigerators, upright freezers, vertical frost-free freezers, and horizontal freezers. 

MEPS requirements will follow a stepped approach:

On 31 December 2023, all locally-manufactured and imported refrigerators and freezers must have a maximum consumption level (C/Cp) of 85.5% according to IEC 62552-3:2007.

On December 31 2025, all locally-manufactured and imported refrigerators and freezers must have a maximum consumption level (C/Cp) of 90% according to IEC 62552-3:2020.
