This Regulation establishes eco-design requirements for the placing on the market of electric mains-operated household washing machines and electric mains-operated household washing machines that can also be powered by batteries; including those sold for non-household use. This Regulation shall not apply to household combined washer-driers.

This Policy is under review by the European Commission in the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation working plan 2025-2030 and is expected to be revized in 2026.
