MEPS for Split Type Air-Conditioners

This policy applies to any single-phase non-ducted room air-conditioner (split type (inverter)) with a cooling capacity of 17.6 kW or lower and any single-phase non-ducted room air-conditioner (split type (non-inverter)) with a cooling capacity of 17.6 kW or lower.

The established MEPS are: 
Single/Multi Split (inverter) up to 17.6kW: COP100% ≥ 3.34
Single/Multi Split (inverter) up to 17.6kW: COPweighted ≥ 4.04
Single/Multi Split (non-inverter) up to 17.6kW: COP100% ≥ 4.04

COPweighted = 0.4 x COP100% + 0.6 x COP50%

The applicable test methods are: 

  • Single-split: ISO 5151:2017, Section 5.1: Cooling capacity test, climate class T1
  • multi-split: ISO 15042:2017, Section 6.1: Cooling capacity test, climate class T1
  • All (for standby power): IEC 62301:2005 or IEC 62301:2011, Section 5.3.1 or 5.3.2 of IEC 62301:2005 or Section 5.3.2, 5.3.3 or 5.3.4 of IEC 62301:2011, climate class Nil
